Bezoek Utrecht #latepost

Alhamdulillah.. In October 2013, I got a wonderful opportunity to attend a short course of food and airborne fungi at the CBS-KNAW which located in Utrecht, Holland. This way too-short course was soooo great. Not only because I got a precious skill and knowledge of how to identify food and airbourne fungi from the short course, but also because I got the opportunity to met many wonderful people here.

This beautiful creature is fungi.., one of fungi that we usually find on expired food! ;p
The course coordinator, Prof. Rob Samson. a quarter of his blood is Indonesian. In fact, he was born in Bandung!

Well it's not just a short course, of course!! It's also a wonderful vacation, for me! A sweet bonus, I can say..  Utrecht is a beautiful city that small enough to explore on foot yet large enough to enjoy interesting museums, modern architecture, trendy shops and friendly outdoor cafe’s. Well, Utrecht has it all!

The City

The Iconic Landmark: The Dom Toren. And, I successfully climbed  to the top of the Dom Toren.
Utrecth City Panorama from the top of the Dom Toren.
"Climbing the Dom Tower is a wonderful opportunity to explore the city of Utrecht in an entirely different way! Via 465 steps (there is no lift), a guide will take you to the top of the highest church tower in the Netherlands. Halfway there, you will get a view of the historic bells with a total weight of no less than 32,000 kg. One floor higher is the magnificent 17th-century Hemony carillon. The tower galleries at 70 and 95 metres provide a spectacular view of the city and province of Utrecht." Taken from http://www.domtoren.nl/en

My body was shaking, my feet were numb, but I felt so proud of this achievement. I climbed the 368 feet Dom Tower!!

Utrecht is offering many beautiful museums to visit. One of the interesting one that I visited is the Speelklok Museum. When visiting the Speelklok Museum, the museum tour guide will show us all the amazing features of its musical collection every hour. The collection contains carillon clocks, musical boxes, Flötenuhren, pianolas, the singing nightingale, orchestrions including the famous Violina, and street, fairground and dance organs. We even can find musical instrument from 1598. We also can sing along and dance with the tour guide and other visitors when the varies of musical repertoire were played. Recommended Cool Museum to visit!
